Job Description

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Electrical Systems Integration

Design the hardware behind Formula One performance.

Are you an ambitious Mechanical Design Engineer looking to work at the very highest level of engineering? At Alpine Formula One Team, we're searching for an exceptional engineer to join our Engineering Office at Enstone and help us develop the next generation of race-winning Formula One cars.

This is a unique opportunity to combine mechanical design expertise with cutting-edge vehicle integration challenges, working on highly complex systems where every gram, millimetre and design decision matters.

As part of our Electronics Department, you'll be at the forefront of mechanical design, developing the structures, packaging solutions and integration concepts that enable our electrical systems to perform in one of the world's most demanding engineering environments.

Working alongside specialists across Vehicle Design, Electronics, Aerodynamics and Manufacturing, you'll contribute directly to race car performance and help shape future car programmes.

The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Electrical Systems Integration, you will be responsible for the mechanical design and integration of electrical systems both on and off the car.

This is far more than component packaging. You'll be solving complex design challenges that balance performance, reliability, manufacturability and serviceability within the extreme constraints of a Formula One car.

Key responsibilities include:

  • 3D design and integration of electrical systems across the entire vehicle.
  • Design of composite and metallic components that support and protect critical electrical hardware.
  • Development and routing of complex wiring harnesses through highly packaged environments.
  • Creation of innovative installation concepts that optimise weight, stiffness, accessibility and performance.
  • Production of detailed engineering drawings and documentation to support manufacture and assembly.
  • Collaboration with Electronics, Vehicle Design, Aerodynamics and Production departments to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
  • Supporting future car programmes and the development of new technologies, materials and engineering approaches.

You'll see your designs progress rapidly from concept to track, with opportunities to influence race car performance throughout the season.

Who We're Looking For

We're seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for high-performance engineering and a desire to solve complex technical challenges.

Experience in Formula One or elite motorsport is desirable, but we're equally interested in engineers from other demanding engineering sectors where precision, innovation and performance are critical.

You will ideally have:

  • Degree qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of engineering first principles.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design and product integration.
  • Advanced CAD skills, ideally using CATIA V5 or 3DEXPERIENCE (experience with NX or equivalent systems is also welcomed).
  • Experience designing metallic and composite components.
  • The ability to manage complex packaging and integration challenges.
  • A creative and analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Confidence working both independently and within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Experience with electrical systems, motorsport harness design, military-spec connectors or electrical integration would be advantageous, but exceptional mechanical design capability is our primary focus.

Why Alpine F1 Team?

At Alpine F1 Team, your work won't sit on a shelf. It will become part of a Formula One car competing on the world stage.

You'll work alongside some of the industry's brightest engineers in a fast-paced environment where innovation is encouraged, decisions happen quickly and your ideas can make a genuine impact on performance.

In return, we offer:

  • The opportunity to influence race-winning Formula One technology.
  • State-of-the-art facilities at Enstone.
  • Competitive remuneration package.
  • Private medical healthcare.
  • Free on-site gym.
  • Subsidised restaurant.
  • Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities.
  • A collaborative and inclusive culture where engineering excellence thrives.

If you're motivated by technical challenge, passionate about mechanical design and excited by the prospect of seeing your work compete at the pinnacle of motorsport, we'd love to hear from you.
