Job Description

The Racing Manager plays a key role at the heart of Salomon’s Alpine racing ecosystem, acting as both an operational expert and a brand ambassador within the Swiss racing community. 

You will be responsible for building, developing, and managing a strong and successful Salomon Racing community of athletes, from Nationales Leistungszentrum (NLZ) up to Europacup. This includes athlete acquisition, development, and acting as the main point of contact for all Salomon athletes in Switzerland across product, performance, and organizational topics. 

The role combines field presence, technical expertise, and community building, requiring close and continuous interaction with athletes, as well as responsibility for race operations, ski preparation, and management of the Salomon test ski fleet and sample process. 

You will represent Salomon at races and events, ensuring strong brand visibility and credibility, while working in close collaboration with Marketing, Sales, Influencer Marketing, Customer Service, Merchandising teams, and global HQ. 

You will report directly to the Marketing Manager.
 

Athlete & Community Management 

  • Build, manage, and grow a community of athletes across Switzerland 

  • Act as the main point of contact for all Salomon athletes 

  • Develop strong, trust-based relationships with athletes 

  • Act as a coach-like figure, supporting athlete development and engagement 

Race & Field Presence 

  • Represent Salomon at key national races and events (JO/FIS races, Swiss championships, camps, test events) 

  • Be present on-site at races regularly (including weekends) to support athletes 

  • Ensure strong brand visibility and representation at all events 

Ski Management & Technical Operations 

  • Manage ski inventory, material orders, and athlete allocations 

  • Prepare skis throughout the season and ensure all equipment is race-ready  

  • Perform ski and boot service for athletes  

  • Manage and coordinate the test ski fleet and sample process 

  • Ensure high technical standards in ski preparation and performance 

Talent Identification & Development 

  • Scout and recruit new youth talents into the Salomon Racing Team 

  • Plan and execute ski tests for acquisition and performance evaluation 

  • Support long-term athlete development within the racing ecosystem 

Planning, Coordination & Reporting 

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor Racing Team activities throughout the year 

  • Lead Racing Circle meetings, including reporting on team performance 

  • Manage athlete-related budgets and resource allocation 

  • Ensure alignment and communication within the Salomon Racing network 

Dealer & Stakeholder Support 

  • Support Salomon Racing Dealers at grassroots and test events 

  • Act as technical contact for dealers in collaboration with the Sales team 

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders 

  • Maintain strong collaboration with HQ on product feedback, quality, and development 

Content & Brand Activation 

  • Contribute to content creation (photo, video, athlete storytelling) for the racing community 

  • Support athletes/coaches in their social media presence and engagement 

  • Collaborate with Influencer Marketing to activate the Salomon Racing ecosystem 

Qualifications

Experience and skills 

  • Strong experience within the Swiss Alpine racing ecosystem, ideally with junior athletes 

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience  

  • High level of organisation and operational rigor 

  • Hands-on, solution-oriented mindset 

  • Strong team player with cross-functional collaboration abilities 

  • Passion for Alpine racing and belief in athlete development 

Technical Skills 

  • Strong expertise in race ski preparation 

  • Experience in boot fitting is preferred 

  • Solid understanding of ski construction, equipment, and racing performance

Languages: Fluent in German and English, French is a plus

Additional Requirements 

  • Willingness to travel regularly across Switzerland, including frequent weekends during race season 

  • Ability to handle and transport equipment (including skis and related materials), including lifting and carrying items.
