Role Overview

As a Technical Coordinator, you will provide proactive, accurate and well-organised technical and administrative support across our Track Systems department. Working closely with the Head of Track Systems, you will coordinate telemetry support for private tests, manage hardware orders and shipments, maintain operational records and support activities relating to Formula 1 events around the world.

Combining strong organisational skills with an interest in technology and motorsport, you will act as a trusted point of contact for teams, suppliers and internal stakeholders. From coordinating event requirements and monitoring hardware movements to supporting financial reporting and improving departmental processes, you will help ensure that technical operations run efficiently and effectively.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • Coordinate telemetry support requirements for private tests, taking ownership of planning, preparation, execution and post-event follow-up activities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for teams during the planning stages of private test support, ensuring clear communication and timely issue resolution.
  • Provide financial reporting and forecasting support to the Head of Department.
  • Review, document and continuously improve the operational processes and procedures associated with the role.
  • Manage hardware sales to teams, including preparing quotations, administering orders, coordinating deliveries and maintaining accurate records.
  • Liaise with suppliers, logistics partners and internal stakeholders to support the timely delivery of products and services
  • Maintain accurate inventory, shipment and tracking documentation to support effective hardware lifecycle management.
  • Coordinate priority shipments of Return Material Authorisation hardware to and from Formula 1 events and operational locations worldwide.
  • Input event data into the LifeCheck asset-tracking system, keeping information updated in line with event schedules.
  • Produce and maintain clear technical records, administrative reports and tracking documentation.
  • Support the preparation, configuration and deployment of hardware for events, private tests and customer requirements.
  • Proactively identify operational risks, escalating issues when appropriate and proposing practical solutions.
  • Respond to team and customer enquiries professionally and promptly, maintaining a high standard of customer service.
  • Contribute to departmental projects and initiatives by conducting research and presenting findings.
  • Ensure all activities are completed in accordance with company procedures, confidentiality obligations, safety requirements and quality standards.

Experience

Prior to the role it would be essential that you have:

  • Experience managing administrative activities that require accuracy, organisation and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience coordinating activities involving multiple stakeholders, deadlines or competing priorities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyse data, create pivot tables, generate reports and maintain accurate financial and operational records.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Outlook, with the ability to produce professional documentation, manage communications and support administrative processes.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records, trackers or operational documentation.
  • Experience communicating professionally with internal and external stakeholders.

Some desirable experience that you may bring to the role:

  • Experience supporting technical equipment, hardware preparation or operational deployment activities.
  • Exposure to logistics, inventory management, order administration or shipment coordination.
  • Experience contributing to projects or reviewing and improving administrative processes.
  • Experience using JIRA or a similar issue management platform

Qualifications

Prior to the role it would be essential that you have:

  • GCSE grade C or above in Mathematics and English, or an equivalent qualification.

Not essential to be successful in the role but you may also have the following qualifications:

  • A degree, Higher National Diploma, Higher National Certificate or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject.
  • An A-level, BTEC or equivalent technical qualification supported by relevant practical experience.

Knowledge & Skills

Prior to the role it is essential that you demonstrate:

  • An awareness of motorsport-related activities and an interest in developing your knowledge in this area.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities, deadlines and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to different audiences.
  • Sound judgement and decision-making skills, including knowing when an issue should be escalated.
  • Strong attention to detail when maintaining records, inventory information, shipment documentation and administrative processes.
  • Commercial and operational awareness.
  • The ability to build productive working relationships with teams, suppliers, logistics providers and internal stakeholders.
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to use shared drives, calendars, trackers and internal business systems.
  • A working knowledge of AI such as ChatGPT, Claude or similar for enhancing, performing or supporting basic administrative tasks.
  • The ability to identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements that maintain quality and reliability.
  • A willingness to develop an understanding of telemetry and hardware systems to support operational activities and communicate effectively with technical teams.
  • An understanding of confidentiality, professional integrity, compliance and company procedures.
