Role Overview:

We are looking for a Track Systems Engineer to join our Racing Systems team. Reporting into our Track Systems Manager, this role will support the installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the Standard Communication System providing telemetry, onboard video, and car data to clients.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting the deployment, commissioning, operation, and decommissioning of radio-frequency installations during events, ensuring effective radio communication between on-car systems and trackside receivers to enable the delivery of telemetry, audio, video and data services to appropriate clients.
  • Confident and competent working at heights up to 5m using approved access equipment and safety harness, in accordance with training and safety procedures.
  • Competent installation of fibre-optic and electrical cables and electronic and RF equipment.
  • Confident and competent use of utility vehicles, light machinery and tools.
  • Electrical and radio frequency wiring and termination.
  • Competently install the timing loops, beacons and track temperature sensors In the surface of the track. This involves manual work including digging, soldering, operation of machinery and tools.
  • Installation, testing and termination of co-axial cable and multi core twisted pair data cable used for loop and decoder data communications.
  • Inspection, testing and fault finding of optical, electrical and electronic systems including operation of necessary tools and measurement equipment including Optical Power Meters, Digital Multi Meters and Spectrum Analyzers.
  • Operate bespoke software applications to Initiate, log and monitor race and test sessions from the Media and Technology Centre or from the Event Technical Centre.
  • Competent analysis and fault finding of system data and results.
  • Technical and mechanical maintenance and repair of fibre optic cable and radio frequency equipment.
  • Rig and de-rig duties to include installation, commissioning, and decommissioning of antenna at heights whilst conforming to existing safety control measures
  • Assist with heavy lifting and manual handling

Experience
Prior to the role it would be essential that you have:

  • Experience in a practical, hands-on technical manual role, such as installation,
  • rigging, outside broadcast, or similar operational environments.
  • Working in a fast paced, pressurized environment where deadlines, safety and
  • reliability are critical.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, including following
  • instructions, communicating clearly, and supporting shared objectives.
  • Reading, understanding, and working to technical drawings

Some desirable experience that you may bring to the role:

Qualifications
To be successful in the role you need to have the following qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering related field (Electronic, Electrical and RF Comms)
