Working within the Commercial Team, as a Commercial Strategy Analyst, you will support the strategic direction of commercial initiatives at the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team. Acting together with the rest of the commercial team to drive commercial performance and enhance the operational efficiency of the Team’s commercial business.
This role partners closely with the broader Commercial, Communications, Marketing Operations and Finance teams, as well as the overall team leadership to set and deliver the Team’s commercial strategy. This is a unique opportunity for someone to step outside of professional advisory to work in a high-performance environment in elite-level sport playing a crucial role within our commercial team.
Key Responsibilities:
Support and at times lead cross-functional strategic projects to develop commercial and brand value across sponsorships, strategic partnerships, merchandise & licensing, e-commerce & retail, CRM & fan engagement, marketing, sustainability and leisure & entertainment
Support development of new revenue initiatives, from blue-sky ideation through feasibility analysis and implementation
Independently scope, structure, and execute evaluations of new commercial opportunities, applying both qualitative and quantitative analysis; translate findings into strategy documents and roadmaps for senior leadership
Manage senior stakeholder engagement, presenting strategic roadmaps, pilot results, progress updates and market insights while proactively raising risks and opportunities
Own analyses on commercial performance, delivering insights on the performance of license holders, sponsorship impact and other revenue drivers to shape decision-making
Conduct market scans, competitor benchmarking and report on thematic trends in the global business landscape, and within the partner network to inform go-to-market strategy, fan engagement and other commercial opportunities
Build sales playbooks, commercial models and pitch materials for high-priority industries and specific target companies within the sales funnel leveraging compelling data and benchmarking against our competitors in F1 and other leading sports , as well as the broader entertainment industry to showcase the power of the Mercedes-AMG Formula One Team
Develop sponsor target lists featuring companies/brands within specific industries tiered by their propensity to sponsor the Team based on analysis of financial results, corporate strategy and overall market fit
About You:
Experience working in top-tier strategy consulting, management consulting or investment banking serving clients across industries such as sports, media, technology and automotive or other relevant professional experience
Demonstrated strength in strategic thinking, business case development and financial modelling
Structured and analytical, able to simplify and solve complex commercial problems
Strong interpersonal skills, record of influencing senior stakeholders and driving alignment across teams
Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects from scoping to execution, delivering measurable business impact
Proactive approach and ability to work both independently and as a part of a broader project team
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects and stakeholders at once
Able to work in a high-performance environment and deliver against challenging deadlines
Willingness and ability to learn new approaches and adapt to different working styles
Exceptional MS Excel skills – confident with data analysis and developing complex, well-structured financial models
Strong MS PowerPoint skills to enable development of insightful and recommendation driven presentations
Strong academic background with a degree from a leading University
Desirable: Quantitative degree from University
Desirable: Experience using data visualisation tools such as Tableau / MS Power BI / Alteryx
Desirable: Passion for sports business and/or e-commerce / marketing / digital media / leisure & entertainment
